Pastor's greeting |
Over the years a number of people have asked me, "What is your vision for Islington Baptist Church, what kind of church do you want Islington to be?" |
I want this church to be a place where people of all backgrounds feel comfortable and welcome. I want this church to be a place where people of all ages feel included and cared for. I want this church to be a place where people, regardless of their physical or mental abilities, can come and involve themselves in the service of Christ. I want this church to be a place where people of different theological persuasions- within the circle of Evangelicalism- can come together, not focused upon their differences but upon the person of Jesus Christ and the mission He has given us. I want this church to be a place where those who want to be more formally attired can be, while those who want to be more casual- within the bounds of Christian modesty- can be too. I want this church to be a place where the needs of the different worshippers who come here are met. For those who want contemporary music, I want them to be able to sing that just as much as I want those who enjoy traditional music to be able to do the same. For those who are more emotive and experiential I want them to be ministered to as well. I want this church to be a place where our faith in Christ is built and where we are increasingly equipped to live the Christian life. I want this church to be a place where people are saved from their sins and where service in the name of Jesus is done with zeal and passionate commitment. I want this church to be a place where the creative talents and spiritual gifts of every person are utilized for Christ. I want this church to be all these things through Christ's power. |
